Mississippi Quail Hunting - Northern Bobwhite Quail Hunting in MS
While the numbers of Northern Bobwhite are showing decline across the southeast, Prairie Wildlife Preserve is very proud to offer an increasing number of quail, due to our intensive, ongoing habitat management. Our nature preserve works in conjunction with Mississippi State's Wildlife and Fisheries Department (MSU) to conduct habitat research and covey monitoring to aid in restoring the Northern Bobwhite on our property and other properties across MS.
Mississippi Deer Hunting - Primitive Hunting in MS
2006-2007 was our first open deer hunting season. Out of nine hunters, four trophy bucks were harvested on our 6000 acre reserve. The hunters that failed to harvest a buck often had close encounters and missed opportunities with beautiful trophy bucks. All deer hunting on Prairie Wildlife Preserve is limited to primitive weapon only. In the future, we will continue to limit deer hunting, making certain we not only retain but improve the quality of our MS buck hunting experiences. Spots for deer hunting are limited - so call and make your reservations early.
Prairie Wildlife Preserve is committed to actively restoring and managing Northern Bobwhite quail habitat on our 6000 acre property in northeast Mississippi. We have established hundreds of acres of native warm season grasses and wildflowers and a myriad of shrub corridors and field borders. While numbers of Northern Bobwhite are declining across the southeast, our quail numbers here are increasing due to intensive habitat management.
Fall covey counts show our wild quail population increasing at an exciting rate. Prairie Wildlife Preserve offers wild Northern Bobwhite hunting on over 4,500 acres of native prairie, old fields, and row crop and pasture edges. Guests can come and experience traditional upland wing shooting from horseback or mule drawn wagons.
Prairie Wildlife also manages a 450 acre wing shooting preserve. Guests can choose from the more challenging experience of a wild bird hunt, or the less challenging excitement of a release bird hunt. If desired, our guests can hunt wild birds in the morning and released birds in the afternoon. We offer a variety of packages including multiple day, single day, and half day hunts. Deer Hunting Packages
Package deals include semi-guided hunt, lodging, and deer processing. Some food will be provided in cabin, however meals are not provided. Deer processing is provided for one deer, and includes cleaning deer and basic processing. Additional does will be $60 per deer. Package includes one Trophy Buck - one additional Buck may be taken for a $500 trophy fee.
